Hybride solar eclipse on 3 November 2013

 

The central solar eclipse of  3 november 2013 starts as annular over the Atlantic Ocean and quickly becomes total with a maximum duration of 1m40s. This will be the longest lasting totalily of any hybrid eclipse during the 21st century.

Over Africa, from Gabon to Somalia, the duration is less than one minute.

The westerly sky near the Ethiopian-Kenian border on 3 November 2013 around 14h25 UT. The total phase of the eclipse will only last 12 seconds. The path of the shadow of the Moon is very narrow, approximately 10 km. The planet Saturn and Venus are likely to be visible. Mercury is very close to the Sun, and is only magnitud 4.3.
